Colleagues, following Peder’s passing, many of you have enquired about his funeral. I am in frequent touch with Jan, his widow and have relayed your good wishes and condolences. I today received the following information from her.
Peder will be laid to rest at a small, private, family only ceremony between Christmas and the New Year. It is Jan’s wish to hold an event in Bromyard celebrating Peder’s life and bidding him farewell at a time and date to be determined in February. She would very much wish for some attendance from us, his colleagues and friends of the AHGTC. However, because Peder was so widely involved in a variety of community organisations, numbers at his event will be limited and the wake will be by invitation only. Jan has asked for my help in co-ordinating the guest list. When details of the wake are available, I shall promulgate them through the Guild website and Facebook page. At that point, any colleagues wishing to attend should contact me, rather than going to Jan directly. I will then discuss the list with Jan for her to make the decision regarding attendance.
Jan very much wishes to stay in touch with Peder’s friends in the Town Crier community and to be regarded as part of the Town Crier family.
One final point, Jan as decided to revert to using a nickname from times past. She would prefer therefore to be addressed as Buffie. She is coping very well with the loss of Peder and will be open to contact after Christmas and the New Year but would prefer not to be swamped.
My best wishes to you all for a merry Christmas and a joyous, prosperous, healthy and very loud 2025.
